Greetings, my fellow critters!
As you may have likely already inferred, Episode 2 of God Animal is finally complete! With a pair of shiny elytra, it has finally eclosed and emerged from its pupal chamber, searching for some tree sap to feast upon. Splendid!
I am incredibly happy and relieved to finally have this instalment of the story out. I’m acutely aware of the fact that it has been almost exactly two years since the Episode 1 one was completed. Without specifying too much, this was due to a number of factors, including myself experiencing what I now realise was a rather horrific and prolonged episode of autistic burnout for more or less the entirety of last year and much of this year (due to a number of reasons that I will refrain from going into). Thankfully, though I am still in some ways recovering from this, I am in truth a much happier bugfox than I was when this year began, which I am most delighted to be able to say. There were also a number of script changes that had also delayed this Episode, suffice to say.
I’ve been incredibly excited to introduce the latter two members of the primary cast of protagonists in God Animal, Act and Dhh, as well as of course progress the story. There is something especially gratifying about having characters you have been drawing for years (in their current forms, to be more specific) finally meet and interact in a narrative. I'm certainly enthusiastic about developing the pair of characters, and of course Cat, Dog and Rebirth Horse, going forward. In particular, I intend for Episode 3 to begin to give some glimpses into the respective histories of Cat and Dog, conveying the troubled pasts they each had as beings born in the Post-Silence World. I also am very keen on being able to explore further the fact that foxes are both aromantic and their friendship in the context of that.
On that topic, what is the plan for God Animal going forward?
Well, I intend to begin scripting Episode 3 in due course. I also intend to map out the overarching plot and character arcs of the comic with more certainty, as well as produce and refine more of the research I need to complete for the story (and its characters) ahead. I can say as of present, I intend for God Animal to entail a total length of 10-12 Episodes (concluding with a shorter Epilogue), though this may be subject to change. I do have one related project I intend to announce here as well...
I am uncertain of what format it will take at this time, but I at some stage intend to begin producing something I have had in mind for God Animal since I worked on the first Episode. This project would be some variety of bestiary, detailing a number of the beings inhabiting the Post-Silence World! Rather than being a series of biology book or field guide-like objective descriptions of said beings, it would be narrated by different characters from the story, each providing their own informal thoughts about said critters. This would obviously in no way reflect actual real-world nomenclature or biology in any manner, especially as any beings remaining would obviously not have an understanding of topics such as Linnaean taxonomy; think along the lines of old bestiaries from centuries past or folk taxonomy.
This would not only include beings appearing in the Post-Silence World (such as Snare Foxes and Swarm Beasts/The Monarch Swarm), but would also entail extant, real world animals that survived the Silent Apocalypse, such as various insects or certain breeds of domesticated dog (as per Act, for example!). I thought it would be a cute concept, fun! I currently intend for this to take the form of bonus pages, serving as intermissions between Episodes, though I may yet add a dedicated page for this. I'm not certain of how I will implement this, as of yet.
Regardless, I'm excited to continue working on God Animal in earnest now. I feel I have learned a lot about the process of working on comics and indeed of writing in general, which I feel will assist me in producing the comic moving forward. Hopefully the next instalment will not take as long, next time!
Thank you for reading, as always. May you all have a splendid and critter-filled 2026!

Hello to you all.
I will immediately cut to the point: due to a multitude of current ongoing factors, I can confirm that Episode 2 will not be released by the end of this month. I don't want to specify a time frame right now for when I hope to have it completed and uploaded in full.
I won’t go into much more detail beyond stating my health has definitely been at a markedly-lower point in the past month especially, caused by a multitude of current factors in my life which have thoroughly decimated my energy and motivation to work on the comic (or indeed any of my other projects). That, as well as indeed the plethora of extremely horrifying current events that have taken place this year alone in both in my own country and indeed internationally, affecting both myself and the people I care about.
Episode 2 of God Animal will be done when it is done. I am taking care of my mental and physical health currently and hope to resume working on the comic when I am in the place to do so.
I will say once again, there is no shame in taking a hiatus from a passion project, much as it absolutely can be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to feel you are not making progress or are for any reason unable to work on the projects that mean so much to you. Nonetheless, sometimes it is what is required; this applies to all of us and regardless, we should always prioritise our wellbeing.
To those who read the comic, thank you so much as always. It genuinely means the world to me. I hope to have Episode 2 completed when I feel ready.

Hello again!
So, it's been almost a few months since the last entry on the God Animal blog, as you will have inferred. Episode 2 is still in production and though I still have a portion left to chip away at with my bugfox tarsal-paws, I am (cautiously) announcing an intended release window for the episode: July of this year.
There's been a number of intervals since the last entry in February, in which I was not working on God Animal at all. Quite a lot happened all at once in my life in that time, which I won't go into here, but I am nonetheless on the path towards completing the next instalment. Where possible, I've been committing more time to the project than I was before, at least. I would say I'm about around halfway, give or take. I do of course say all of this cautiously (especially as God Animal is and always will be my big passion project) and its possible that later on, it may not be ready by then. We'll see!
So, July 2025, all being well! To those of you who do read this little comic made by the bugfox creature inhabiting this Digital Forest, I genuinely do appreciate your patience. To say thank you, I will end this blog entry with a preview of the first two pages! Wowee!!
Until next time (hopefully with a new Episode held in my muzzle, tail wagging happily!), see you around.

Hello! I had been meaning to set up a blog page for the God Animal subsection for quite a while now, so here it is.
It has been over a year since Episode 1 was completed, but at this point Episode 2, with the title Lament of a Beetle Collie, is now (finally) very much underway at this point. I had initially began some form of production on the it in the weeks after I uploaded the last pages of Our Friend Rebirth Horse at the very end of 2023, though due to a lot of factors affecting me in 2024 (namely health issues), I wasn't able to touch Episode 2 until several months ago. I'm thankfully doing a fair amount better than I was last year, though still processing and working through a lot.
That said, I'm very happy to be working on continuing the story of God Animal now, and as we should all remember and heed: our health, mental and physical, should always be prioritised, after all. That goes for all of us with projects of any variety, especially if they're labour of love passion projects, much as it can be frustrating to not be able to work on them, even when you know you can't for any reason.
So, Episode 2. I'm getting quite a few pages fully inked at this stage, and whilst there is a fair amount of work still ahead of me, it's a fraction of the length of Episode 1. Whilst I won't spoiler too much about the premise of the upcoming Episode in the God Animal story, it involves the introduction of a new pair of characters (whom of which some of you may have already seen in some of the more general art related to God Animal, much of which is not actually canon to the story of the comic): Act, a forlorn but brave border collie dog and Dhh, their mysterious rhinoceros beetle companion. I'm very excited to introduce them to the story and expand the scope of the Post-Silence World.
I don't have a specific timeframe for the completion of Episode 2, but I hope to have it up in the next few months or so, health, work and life stuff permitting. Regardless, here is a sneak preview of a panel, which indeed does include Act:
Until next time, see you all around.
